My Name is zenov
haha…
Slacking away now, cos I’m neither here nor there.
Had 1.5 hours to start to leave for my driving lesson, but 1) I didn’t bring my lappy with me 2) my proposal to meet my prof today was postponed. I didn’t bring notes to read also, so I’m sort of stuck here. Gonna have lunch after this post 
Something stupid happened just now at the tutorial for RVI.
I was rummaging through my bag for the notes, when I heard my name being called the angmoh way by the tutor (who happens to be a melayu):
Chang-Rong Ye
I instinctively thought the tutor was doing roll call, so I just shouted ‘HERE!!!’
But I also instantly recollected that he was actually calling out the names of the presenters, so I just went, Oops!
But again, I was sure I heard my name, so I was confused. I wondered if I remembered my presentation date wrongly…
It turned out that he was calling a guy called Zhang Rong Yuan.
See? See why I changed my name to zenov instead??
Anyways, it has been a long time since someone mispronounced my Chinese name le. Partly cos I have been using zenov. For the past year, I converted back to Zhanrong cos my FYP profs insisted on calling our Chinese names (pls, he don’t really speak Chinese himself) and he actually got my name right. I also grew tired of introducing myself to strangers that I’m zenov. Especially if I have to explain in front of the class that my tutor can call me zenov, or why the tutor calls me Zhanrong and yet I tell others my name is zenov.
But no worries. after graduation, I’ll revert back to 100% zenov.
I believe there are more Singaporeans out there in society.
p/s: from what I learnt in RVI today, the last sentence was a romantic way of expressing my thoughts haha…
