Ah Long vs Pai Kia
Watched Ah Long Pte Ltd with my family during CNY. We had to find a movie that my mum would understand, so a local movies was the best option.
But well…
If anybody read reviews on the show, the response was mixed. Some say it was filled with local flavour and that we should support local shows, and others corresponded to my opinion.
Yep, there were funny and enjoyable moments, like the part when the Indian security (from Just Follow Law) appeared, bringing about a very good anti-climax.
And that was about all.
One reviewer said it correctly, the show was made up with a series of (attempts of) funny sketches, loosely weaved together to bring about a shaky premise, if there was any at all.
Then, just now, I watched I Not Stupid 2 on crunchyroll.
I suppose INS2 was made 2 years ago ba. But somehow, the show was more coherent, had funny moments and good storytelling. I’m not saying that the show is worth a Cannes Award, but if one is split on how good Ah Long is, just watch INS2 and you will be convinced that Jack Neo indeed lost his touch.

His name is zenov.
The reason for the Russian-y name was the fact that he could not bear to hear about 80% of the people around him mis-pronouncing his Chinese name.
And yes, he lives in Punggol, Singapore.
He now holds a B.Eng (Electrical and Computer) degree from NUS, majoring in Device Technology (ie. how to make a semi-conductor).
Currently, looking for a job in engineering or general management.
