As of CNY eve, I shed 3 kg since 1 Jan 2008. But as of 3rd day of CNY, I gained a hearty 700g.
But let’s start first on my alcohol binges that started earlier in that CNY week. On Mon, I drank with giam and carrotlet. On Thursday, my sis opened her 16% liquor for dinner. On Saturday, she opened her 7.5% champagne. She still has a red wine in the fridge (and some alcohol in the storeroom, you know, in the bomb shelter, in times of need).
I thought my bloodstream was so swarming with alcohol that my face was perpetually red since Mon. No lah… The redness always only stay for a few hours, depending on the amount of alcohol. But ya… you get the meaning.
I also just realized that even though I may still walk/act/talk normally, it’s on a general scale. I was trying hard to use the mouse right after the 3rd douse of liqour, only to find my thumb twitching like a duracell bunny.

CNY was like in the past. Temple, Grandma’s house, then home. Except this year, we went on car. It was then I realize that CTE can still be jammed on a public holiday, and that BM is really an elderly neighbourhood. Come on, usually, the carparks there are dead as hell, but on CNY, cars were even parking on the curbs! All rushing to visit their elderly folks ba.
CNY 2nd day was spent at home. Since my dad and mum are the eldest in their families, our visiting always end at the 1st day. Those who wanted to visit us will do so on the 2nd day, cos for the 3rd, my dad set a rule of No-Visiting. Cos in cantonese, 初三 sounds like 出山, and being the very pantang man he was, he set the prohibition.
Then on that very night, the family decided to go for a midnight show (Ah Long Pte Ltd). Since it was a last minute decision, we ended up at the Shaw Tower cinemas near Bugis. It was an ok hall lah, not old and dirty, but seats uncomfortable as expected.
3rd day, went to have dinner with the ZPS people. After which, we watched Kungfu Dunk. We lou-hei at a certain Chinese restaurant in Vivo for FREE, cos we found a pin in the yusheng!! Short term, yes we 赚到. But I don’t think it is a good omen…
I skipped the Sentosa outing with the HC gang on Sunday. I felt so… guilty of not working for the past few days that I decided to put my butt down to accomplish some stuff.
After which, it was back to the grind of lectures and assignments, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the dreaded FYP.
On 13 Feb, I went for a lab session, which was about semiconductor fabrication. That is, I got to go inside a clean room, covering myself from head to toe with dorky-looking jumpsuits, shower cap, face masks, gloves and shoes. We had to enter the room through a portal, which was a little room with fans that will blow loose particles on us away and mats that will stick the dirt off the bottom of our shoes.
Thought it was a little, low-cost lab, it was still a good experience. We looked at the oxidation machine, sputtering machines, etching, photo-lithography room and stuff like that. I suppose I am quite used to the dirty world out here, cos I felt a little dizzy while I was in the clean room lol
That very day, I also crashed a Civil lecture. I had dinner with giam and carrotlet (of whom scooted even before we finished our dinner!). I tagged on to giam when she went to meet Medan. They told me the lecturer was very handsome, so I decided to go look-see.
As usual, Civil gals’ taste not very accurate one.
Just like giam proclaimed Medan to be a very quiet (150dB voice??), gentle (palm force of 100N/cm3??) gal, that lecturer was old and frail-looking.
It just goes to add on to why guys like me are unwanted…
And the dreaded V-day… ah haha… I spent the evening singing ‘infinite k’ with LF. lalala… ‘Infinite’ cos the gal at the counter said, ‘You can sing until we close at 3am.’
Bloody gosh!
Of cos we never sing till 3am lah. Must catch last bus, now taxi super ex. Some more people (read: me, cos that LF is having a slacker sem) have classes to attend the next day. 8am some more. haha… Come to think of it, if I sang till 3am, it would have just meant that I can go for lessons straight after I reach PGP and bathe.
